NEW YORK (TheStreet) –– Apple finally gets its big entry into China, as the company will be selling its iPhone and iPhone 6 Plus in China, starting Oct. 17, as it continues its push into the world's largest cellular market. Reception has been positive so far for the new iPhones, with Apple announcing it sold more thana10 million units in its opening weekend, despite the lack of availability in China. This news will allow Apple to sell the iPhone to the three major state carriers in China, including China Mobile , China Telecom and China Unicom , as well as Apple's mainland China retail stores and Apple's Chinese Web site. "With support for TD-LTE and FDD-LTE, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus customers will have access to high-speed mobile networks from China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom for an incredible experience."a Pre-orders will start on Oct. 10, and customers can start reserving the phones on Oct. 14, with pick up on Oct. 17. Shares of Apple were higher in early Tuesday trading, gaining 0.91% to $101.02. China is an incredibly important market for Apple, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White wrote in a research note last week. "We believe there are a few important catalysts for Apple in 2H:CY14, including the ramp in China," White said in the note. "For example, we believe consumers in China are on pause as they eagerly await the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which we expect to launch before the end of 2014." Theaworld's most populous country has more than 1.2 billion wireless subscribers, compared to India and the U.S., the next two largest markets, with more than 900 million and 327 million subscribers, respectively. Apple has repeatedly said how important China is to the country's future, which makes getting the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus into the country as fast as it can a priority. In Apple's fiscal third quarter, it said it generated 28% revenue growth year over year in Greater China, making it its higher growth area by far. It's also second in terms of overall revenue, with $5.94 billion coming from Greater China, second only to the $14.58 billion from the Americas. The iPhone 6 will start at a suggested retail price of 5,288 RMB ($861) for the 16GB model, 6,088 RMB for the 64GB model and 6,888 RMB for the 128GB model. The iPhone 6 Plus will start at 6,088 RMB for the 16GB model, 6,888 RMB for the 64GB model and 7,788 RMB for the 128GB model.
