NEW YORK (MainStreet) -- CEOs are rarely fired. They "offer their resignation," leave to "pursue new opportunities," "retire" or gracefully "step down." However the news is framed, top executive turnover peaked last year, reaching a six-year high. Global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas keeps score on such matters and reports that 1,341 chief executives "vacated their posts" during 2014, nearly an 8% increase from the prior year.
